Niagara Falls - Horseshoe Falls

Niagara Falls

My summer travels brought me to Buffalo, NY – a short 40 min drive from Niagara Falls.  I decided to get driving directions to the falls to check this destination off of my bucket list.

Interestingly, everyone I spoke to recommended to drive over the Canadian side of the falls to see Horseshoe Falls.  Typically, I associate Canada with freezing cold weather, airplane de-icing and sliding down the highway (sideways) at 12mph.  Naturally, I was curious by how many people commented on how magnificent the Canadian side of Niagara Falls was.

Horseshoe Falls

In all honesty, the locals were right.  The Canadian side of Niagara Falls (called Horseshoe Falls) is stunning.

The relentless roar of hundreds of thousands of gallons of water cascading over the horseshoe shaped rocks gives way to a 174′ drop into the Niagara river.

Niagara Falls is a beautiful destination for people visit; Once you park, and walk around there’s not really a lot to do.  There are plenty of photo spots and casinos on the Canadian side.

If you’re on the American side, you can visit the falls on the Maid of the Mist – a tour boat that takes you up close and personal with Niagara Falls.
